CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT - The people of the City of Santa Ana, at an election held on February 5, 2008, approved an amendment to the City Charter of the City of Santa Ana which established the Code of Ethics and Conduct for elected officials and members of appointed boards, commissions, and committees to assure public confidence. A copy of the City’s Code can be found on the City Clerk’s Office’s webpage: www.santa-ana.org/city-clerks-office.

The following are the core values expressed: Integrity · Honesty · Responsibility · Fairness · Accountability · Respect · Efficiency

AGENDA DESCRIPTION - The agenda descriptions provide the public with a general summary of the items of business to be considered by the Commission. The Commission is not limited in any way by the “Recommended Action” and may take any action which the Commission deems to be appropriate on an agenda item. Except as otherwise provided by law, no action shall be taken on any item not listed on the agenda.

AGENDA AND MINUTES - Staff reports and documents relating to each agenda item are on file in the City Manager’s Office and are available for public inspection during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and alternate Fridays. The City Manager’s Office is located at Santa Ana City Hall, 20 Civic Center Plaza, 8th Floor, Santa Ana, CA 92701, and can be reached at (714) 647-5200. Regular Commission meeting agendas and staff reports are available 72 hours before a Commission meeting on our website: www.santa-ana.org/agendas-and-minutes.

RECESS – Police Oversight Commission will recess to Closed Session for the purpose of conducting regular City business.
CLOSED SESSION ITEM – The Brown Act permits legislative bodies to discuss certain matters without members of the public present.  The Police Oversight Commission finds, based on advice from the City Attorney, that discussion in open session of the following matter will prejudice the position of the City in existing and anticipated litigation:
1.
PUBLIC EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT pursuant to Government Code Section 54957(b)(1)
Title: Independent Oversight Director to the Santa Ana Police Oversight Commission
CLOSED SESSION REPORT – Assistant City Attorney Martinez will report on any action(s) from Closed Session.
ADJOURNMENT – The next meeting of the Police Oversight Commission is scheduled for October 10, 2024 at 5:00 PM.
